Diversity Scholarship – Presenting Sponsors

Alterna Savings

Alterna Savings

Alterna Savings and Credit Union Ltd is a member-owned Credit Union with more than 100 years of putting people and community first. CHFT is honoured to have Alterna Savings as its longtime partner in the Co-op Cost Cutter program — co-op members benefit from Alterna’s commitment to delivering good, caring, and transparent financial services.

Alterna has been a generous donor since the Diversity Scholarship program began in 2004. As well as sponsoring the Penny Bethke scholarship, Alterna is a Presenting Sponsor again this year.

CHF Canada

CHF Canada

As CHFT’s sister federation at the national level, the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is a valued partner in serving member co-ops. CHFT members are grateful for CHF Canada’s leadership and advocacy federally that resulted in the launch in 2024 of the Co-operative Housing Development Program. And the 50,000 people living in CHFT member co-ops are grateful too for CHF Canada’s long-time support of the Diversity Scholarships, again in 2025 at the Presenting Sponsor level.

Civic Developments

Civic Developments

Civic Developments is focused on finding equitable, creative solutions to the housing shortage facing Canadians. For that reason, CHFT is pleased to have Civic, along with Windmill Developments, CreateTO, and the City of Toronto as partners in creating a 612-unit co-op community at Kennedy and Eglinton in Scarborough.

Civic aims to contribute to the fabric of Toronto in a meaningful, impactful way. It’s a responsibility they take great pride in fulfilling. And CHFT is proud to have them become Presenting Sponsors of the Diversity Scholarship for the first time in 2025!

CMS Building Consultants

CMS Building Consultants

CMS Building Consultants Inc. entered the construction management and professional services industry in 1997. Since that time, CMS has worked with many co-ops on building condition assessments, technical audits, reserve fund study, financial feasibility study, fire retrofit & planning, building alterations, and preventative maintenance plans. Its principals know safe and secure housing is the foundation for co-opers to achieve their full potential.

Education is also key, and for that reason, CMS is a long-time donor to the Diversity Scholarship. Thank you for again being on the list of Presenting Sponsors in 2025.

Co-operators

Co-operators

The Co-operators is a leading all-Canadian financial services co-operative invested in helping Canadians build and grow their financial strength and security. By insuring co-ops under a group arrangement facilitated through CHF Canada, the Co-operators allows co-ops and co-op members to breath a little easier, knowing that some of the financial strain will be eased if trouble strikes. Thank you to the Co-operators for its continued support of the Diversity Scholarship program.

David Miller

David Miller

David Miller served as the Mayor of the City of Toronto from 2003 to 2010. In 2011, CHFT established the Joan Miller Success Becomes You scholarship in honour of Miller’s mother who knew education was key to success.

This award has been given 60 times since 2011, celebrating Mrs. Miller’s legacy of commitment to education, excellence, achievement and community service. David Miller is a presenting sponsor and has supported the scholarship program from its inception.

Precision Property Management

Precision Property Management

Precision Property Management provides many of CHFT member co-ops with property management services. PPM strives to work with co-op boards to foster environments that reflect, respect, and recognize the unique culture of each co-op community. PPM is a long time sponsor of the Diversity Scholarship program. CHFT thanks them for supporting at the Presenting Sponsor level again in 2025.

Windmill Developments

Windmill Developments

Founded in 2003, Windmill is a visionary real estate company focused on creating happy, healthy communities within the resources of our planet. Using the One Planet Living framework, Windmill is working with Civic Developments, CreateTO, the City of Toronto and CHFT to ensure Kennedy Green Co-op, at 2444 Eglinton Avenue East, will be a co-op where humans and nature thrive in a mutually beneficial relationship. CHFT is thrilled Windmill has joined the list of Presenting Sponsors of the Diversity Scholarship.
