2024 Diversity Scholarship Application Form – Builder Scholarships

We are looking for students to apply for a special category in our Diversity Scholarship Program

Please apply if you are going to either college or university in the upcoming school year to study or work in any of the following areas:

  • Construction management
  • Apprenticeship program in welding, plumbing or other trade
  • Engineering to work in the building industry

Who May Apply?

To be eligible for a Diversity Scholarship, applicants must:

  • live in a CHFT member co-op
  • plan to attend a recognized, publicly funded, Canadian, post-secondary education institution – community college, university or approved apprenticeship-training program – on a full-time or part-time basis in the 2024/2025 academic year
  • have used their knowledge and understanding of diversity to make a positive contribution to their school and/or local community
  • have demonstrated a financial need.

Students will have to show us

  • they are already registered in school either full-time or part-time
  • a transcript, showing passing marks for the program
  • proof that the live in a CHFT co-op

Funding

  • Students may be eligible to receive up to $6000 provided they submit proof of enrollment in school as well as proof of living in a co-op
  • Annual funding is $1500

    PART D - Essay

    Please upload an essay on the following subject, in PDF format. Your essay must be no fewer than 500 words and no more than 750 words.

    Must be a PDF file with a maximum size of 2 MB.
    1. Tell us one thing your school or your housing co-op has done related to any one or more of the concepts covered in the reading materials below.
    2. Do you think the initiative described in (1) was successful? Why or why not?
    3. If you were on your co-op's board or the student council of your school, name one thing you'd propose to increase diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and belonging.

    PART E - Financial Situation

    Please fill in the chart below with approximate amounts. Include all of your expenses and income sources for the upcoming academic year, not including the Diversity Scholarship. Please remember, you are calculating for the entire year and not just the school year. Misrepresentation of your financial situation will result in your application being disqualified.
