You will combine intellectual flair, innovative thinking, partner engagement and political insight with the ability to deliver impactful and high-quality policy recommendations to decision makers. Your responsibilities will be broad, requiring excellent project and relationship management skills, as well as strong communication and analytical abilities.
The Community Housing Renewal Unit leads and coordinates policy development related to community housing and has primary responsibility for the Housing Services Act, 2011. The unit also leads stakeholder engagement across sectors and works cross-government to inform policy development to advance the government’s goals under the Community Housing Renewal Strategy.
Salary:
$82,217.00 – $121,155.00 Per year

About the job
Working as part of the Community Housing Renewal Unit, you will:
• Provide project leadership and/or participation in the development of strategic housing policies, regulations and/or legislation which address a range of issues within Ontario’s community housing system
• Develop strategies, policy options and recommendations in a high-profile, fast-paced work environment
• Liaise with ministry and external stakeholders to consult, evaluate and respond to issues
• Support stakeholder relations and consensus building in developing, promoting and delivering policies that support ministry strategies and goals
• Provide expertise and advice to ministry executives, senior management and staff on policy options, risks, and issues management
• Brief senior managers and decision-makers on policy options, analysis and recommendations
• Respond to public inquires and requests for information from the Minister, Deputy or other senior officials in the ministry
• Represent the ministry and province on inter-ministerial/inter-jurisdictional working groups and committees
While knowledge of housing or experience in policy development is not mandatory, candidates must demonstrate the transferability of their skills.

Policy and Program Development and Analysis
- You have demonstrated policy development and analysis skills
• You have the ability to provide input to policy and program development and implementation
• You have knowledge of key government commitments related to emerging housing issues
• You have good judgment and tact to recommend strategic directions and approaches to issue resolution as well as research, develop and formulate policy options and analyses
Research, Analytical and Project Management Skills
- You can evaluate problems, identify, research and analyze options, and provide recommendations
• You can lead and/or support multiple project teams, including meeting deadlines and communicating progress and project risks
Communication, Stakeholder Consultation and Presentation Skills
- You can prepare complex policy proposals, briefing notes, correspondence and reports, and business cases
• You have the ability to present program and policy related information and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
• You can work collaboratively and develop productive relationships with inter-ministerial partners (example: municipalities, various ministries and levels of government, housing providers and advocacy groups) on program and policy development issues
